Overview

ReFi stands out as the UK’s pioneering debt consolidation app, enabling users to settle multiple debts in a single transaction. This innovative platform not only streamlines financial obligations but also promotes a more organized and sustainable approach to debt repayment, enhancing overall financial management for users. Additionally, with robust security measures and user-friendly features integrated into the application, ReFi ensures a secure and user-centric solution, providing individuals with an effective means of consolidating their debts hassle-free.

Brief

The brief emphasized the theme of “journey, journey, journey,” with the objective of creating an application that seamlessly integrates into the websites and apps of major high street banks via an iFrame. The user experience was designed to be smooth and hassle-free, with a focus on minimizing friction. Utilizing APIs to access debts and other financial integrations was essential to achieving this goal, ensuring minimal effort on the part of the user.

Approach

The development approach presented significant challenges, primarily due to the scarcity of data, as this was the first application of its kind in the UK. Fortunately, we were able to leverage the abundant financial data available online, which we intelligently tailored to suit our specific audience and industry insights. Feedback was systematically gathered through demo sessions with potential clients, during which we presented the prototype. The number of iterations made was considerable, particularly given the relatively limited scope of the user journey. This iterative process was crucial in refining the application to better meet user needs and expectations.

COMPLETE DESIGN SYSTEM TO OPTIMISE WORKFLOW

The main challenge for this project, was to create a strong design system that we could use on Mobile & Web apps. I used Atomic Design principles to create base components (text styles, color palette, buttons, icons, tags, inputs etc…). More complex components have been added to the design system all along the project, following the needs of the UI. Once finished, the design system had more than 100 components and was fully scalable.

CONSISTENCY IS KEY

When designing the screens, i tried to keep the same navigation & interaction patterns. The goal was to make sure that the users could use the product efficiently.

Final words

The final product has been very well-received by both clients and customers. The data we have gathered, along with user recordings, clearly indicate that we successfully delivered a frictionless journey, as outlined in the brief. Although I am unable to share specific figures at this time, I can confirm that completion rates are exceptionally high, and the time taken to complete the process is remarkably quick. Currently, my focus has shifted toward further optimizing the product. We are carefully analyzing the data and conducting A/B tests to enhance user experience and ensure continued success.
